Can you feel that? That tingle in your belly? Yup, it’s that time of year again as Interesting Vancouver approaches.
Momentum is building behind the scenes and we’re less than two months away from our sixth annual event. We were sad to see long time organizers Jason, James and Lauren hang up their IV hats this year, but thrilled that Hanna, Lizzy, Mike, Andy and Darren are helping us make the event better than ever this year. And of course we would be lost without our founder and spiritual guide Brett, who is planning to return from the wilds of London (UK) to host the event this year.
Although our logo and website have served us well for the past six years, the team decided is was time to refresh things a bit, so stay tuned for some sneak peaks of our new look.
Our partner this year is once again the Museum of Vancouver, who are allowing us to take over their beautiful facility for the evening. Speakers have been confirmed and the lineup is a wonderful mix of fascinating people with wonderful stories about obsessions, hobbies, and passions. No work talk, we promise.
Support partners this year again include Driftwood Beer, Mark Anthony Wines and Eventbrite, with Industrial Brand, The Butler Did It, GDCBC and The Hot Charlottes joining us as new sponsors! We’re grateful for their help producing this event. All left over funds from the evening will again be donating to the Museum of Vancouver to aid the important work they are doing in Vancouver.
We’ll soon begin releasing speaker spotlights to start building excitement about this year’s event, but so far we’ve lined up a drag queen and playwright, a preacher who lost his faith, a renowned piñata expert, an Ethopian painter who doesn’t trust first impressions, a female aboriginal art curator who gave it all up to be happy, and a veteran with stories from the battlefield. This is an evening you won’t want to miss.
One new addition to the event this year will be a private speaker dinner for a limited number of lucky attendees. More information and tickets will be available here in the coming weeks, so stay sharp!
That’s the update for now. We’re all looking forward to seeing your smiling faces on November 8th for an evening of interestingness!
